Angry Birds Go! kart racing revealed

Rovio has been teasing Angry Birds Go! since June, but only today finally confirmed what everyone suspected: it's a kart racer. Arriving on December 11, it'll send birds and pigs kareening downhill, collecting coins and power-ups. Like with Angry Birds Star Wars II, you can unlock vehicles by buying Hasbro's 'Telepod' figures.

It's, you know, a kart racing game, with characters who have different powers, karts to upgrade, and those other sorts of things you'd want in a kart racing game.

Angry Birds Go! is coming free-to-play to iOS, Android, Windows Phone 8, and BlackBerry 10, initially at least. Hit the official site for more, and peep this trailer:

Gotta hand it to Rovio on being stupidly successful i milking such a simple concept into a global IP and taking it into so many directions. This is the stuff that Harvard Business Reviews are made of.

That said... really? The world needs another kart racer?

The world can never have too many kart racers, unless this one sucks then there is no need.

Here lately there haven't been too many kart racers (I seem to recall a real glut of them on the PC back in the 90's) but really outside of Mario Kart are there many these days?

Actually now that I think about it the kart racer is pretty much the #2 "paste your IP in" genre - Sonic, Shrek, LittleBigPlanet, Chocobo, Burger King), and this game looks to be the same. Unless it's actually good, which might be interesting. In a way it just needs to be better than most games, not necessarily better than Mario Kart.

#1 "paste your IP in" genre is endless runner games.

The Sonic one was really good, actually.

Actually kinda looks fun although I have my doubts with it being on handhelds

Amazing how they've parlayed this dumb fucking game into all kinds of stupid shit. Wonder if they have Angry bird thongs?
