Castlevania: Lords of Shadow Collection pushed to November

The Castlevania: Lords of Shadow Collection will be coming November 5, rather than October 29 as originally planned.

With various ghouls, monsters and demons afoot, October might seem like the perfect time for Castlevania. The Lords of Shadow Collection would certainly fit this bill, but alas, it's slipped from its prior October 29 date. Now it will be coming well after the witching hour, on November 5.

Online retailers Best Buy and Amazon (via Joystiq) now show the North American release dates as November 5, coming just after Konami issued an announcement of November 8 for Europe. Shacknews has contacted Konami to confirm the date.

The Collection includes the original LoS, its Reverie and Resurrection DLC, and Mirror of Fate HD. The HD port of Mirror of Fate, whether part of the collection or not, will include a demo of Lords of Shadow 2.

Meanwhile, producer Dave Cox tweeted what appears to be a shot of Mirror of Fate HD running on a PC, saying "No comment," the cheeky little devil.

Is LoS any good? I haven't played many of the 3D Castlevanias.

I thought it was pretty good, though many hate on it for being in its own timeline.

HEH. Yeah, I don't care about the story in Castlevania games. I just dig the atmosphere and the hot, whip-on-candle action.

I really liked Lords of Shadow, enough that I even paid for the overpriced DLC. For impatient gamers, it does start a bit slow, as it doesn't truly start coming into it's own until midway through Chapter 2 (which is like 8-10 levels in), but it really picks up and becomes it's own game. The graphics are great (even if the camera angles/shots aren't always choice) and I love the boss battles. The post credits ending is probably the best surprise about the game, even if you know the spoiler. Even more so if you are familiar with Castlevania lore, for whatever that's worth.

^^ Completely agree with this, especially the slow beginning. If you've gone from a game where you can control the camera to the static camera in LoS it can get frustrating but the game is still stunning in places, I played through it 2 or 3 times to get all the secrets and achievements IIRC. Good times.

Yeah, it's pretty fun. I wouldn't call it Castlevania though. It's basically a Gothic Horror God of War.

I thought it was a lot of fun. A bit long, but enjoyable.

i didn't care for it, but i generally don't like those kinds of games. had zero reason to have the castlevania name other than to get more people to buy it.

i wouldn't say it wasn't a good game, though. what little i played, it seemed to be doing everything right.
