The classic Sierra adventure series Gabriel Knight is getting a revamp, marking the series' first appearance in more than 10 years. The 1993 title Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers is getting a makeover from Pinkerton Road, the indie studio founded by original GK creator Jane Jensen. It's aiming for a release on PC, Mac, iPad, and Android devices in mid-2014.

The "Anniversary Edition" will feature remastered visuals, voice work, and the soundtrack will be polished up by original composer Robert Holmes. It will also include "special edition content" of some type, but that's being kept under wraps for now.

"I'm thrilled to be back at work on Gabriel Knight and to bring this classic game to a new generation of players," Jensen said in the announcement. "It's a designer's dream to be able to enhance the game and bring in more New Orleans flavor than technical limitations allowed us to in 1993. It's going to look and feel like a brand new title. But never fear, 100% of the original Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers is here. I hope both existing fans and new players will love it."

HO. LY. SHIT. I love the GK series. Probably my favorite adventure series from the golden age of the 90s. Can't wait for this!

I wonder who will voice Gabriel Knight. I've a feeling Tim Curry wont be reprising his role. :(

I would pretty much shit my pants for 'the voice acting ripped from the original GK1' with the artwork of the remake.

They already said they've recast and re-recorded due to losing the original recordings and the audio in the released game being... not great. That said, I would love hot-swappable visual and, more importantly to Gabriel Knight, audio modes similar to the Monkey Island Special Editions.

It's hard to re-cast the first time you heard Luke Skywalker drop the f-bomb.

Aw - the original recordings were lost to the ages?

That's a damned shame. I do understand their rationale for re-casting and re-recording the audio... but... I want my Tim Curry.

This is the only thing I regret. I would love it if Tim did the voice again. Oh and keep the dialog system of the original, I thought it was pretty nifty.
