Call of Duty: Ghosts will have dedicated servers. And not just on PC--for all versions of the game. "Dedicated servers will be used on current gen, next gen and PC with Ghosts," executive producer Mark Rubin confirmed.

Rubin describes connectivity in Ghosts as a hybrid, mixing "dedicated servers and listen servers." He explained that "no matter where you are the game will always be trying to give you the best online performance possible."

In a tweet, he explained that matchmaking has been proved to put players "in matches that have the best overall connectivity performance."

In addition, Ghosts will feature new anti-cheat measures. Rubin also says he hopes "to add server browser and rent-able ranked [servers]," but these features will only be considered after the team gets through launch crunch.

I'll consider buying it when server browser is a guaranteed feature.

Server browser wouldn't be considered until after the launch crunch? Wouldn't that help alleviate some of the matchmaking issues?

Back in the day, the community could've taken care of this. But now that the dedicated servers aren't community hosted, the only party who can enumerate the servers defers building a browser for it until after release.

What's Sledgehammer doing with Call of Duty Elite? Can they build a server browser?

I miss server browsers as much as the next guy but matchmaking that works is perfectly fine with me.

I've been mostly ok with the Black Ops 2 matchmaking though a few more settings to determine what kind of matchups happen would be nice.

"In a tweet, he explained that matchmaking has been proved to put players "in matches that have the best overall connectivity performance.""

That's NOT what the tweet actually says.

"There is also some great new tech in the matchmaking system that will place players in matches that have the best combined overall connectivity performance."

      carries quite a different meaning.

I'm looking at this trying to figure out what you're talking about and failing miserably.

The quote from ShackNews implies that matchmaking has ALREADY been offering the best overall connectivity performance, which is a claim that is of course, full of shit. The real tweet however makes no such claim, it's claiming that matchmaking in GHOSTS will be offering the best overall connectivity performance, which while a very dubious claim, at least has a remote chance of being accurate.
