We were thoroughly impressed by the tech powering Microsoft's upgraded Kinect for Xbox One. The new camera uses a new tech: a time-of-flight camera that emits light signals and measures how long it takes for them to return. In conjunction with an infrared sensor, the new Kinect promises to be much more accurate than the original.
While we've yet to see many games take advantage of the new Kinect, it's nonetheless exciting to see the potential afforded by the new camera system. Microsoft Research released new videos showcasing what we got to demo at Redmond earlier this year. Particularly impressive is Kinect's ability to keep track of your pulse and the "muscle man" demo which not only tracks your body, but the amount of force you're exerting as well.
