Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze has been pushed out of its previous December 6 date. During a Nintendo Direct today, president Satoru Iwata announced that the game would instead release in February of 2014.

Iwata didn't mention much reason for the delay, other than adding more layers of polish. That leaves Zelda: Wind Waker HD and Super Mario 3D World as Nintendo's first-party offerings for this holiday season.

      What a letdown.
But at the same time, they don't want a repeat of last year drought.

I'm sure it's for the best, but this sure isn't going to help them sell Wii U's this holiday.

Either they're confident Mario will sell systems, or they've given up... I'm not sure.

Coming out two weeks after a Wii U Mario and a 3DS Zelda wouldn't have been the best idea, anyway. Give people time to digest Mario and give it its own window to breathe.
