Mount & Blade 2 revealed in first screenshots

The announcement of Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord last September was curiously light on details but while we expected developer Taleworlds to dribble more out slowly, it instead went stone silent. On Friday, exactly one year later, it finally broke this to release a dozen screenshots. The game's still something of a mystery, though.

The official website has also been updated with a description mentioning that the Empire is torn without an Emperor, and players will get to lead armies and manipulate factions and fight men but, well, what else would one expect from a Mount & Blade game? The screenshots confirm that it will also include swords, horses, and castles, so, well, good:

Fancy chairs: confirmed. Click for the rest of the screens.

Here's to hoping Bannerlord is as fun as its predecessor. So many hours spent riding down fools!

I really want these guys to do a full-fledged Skyrim style game with multiplayer.

The combat is SO, SO good.

The combat in Skyrim is SO basic and dull. Despite the poorly done and unoriginal gimmicks added (aside from dual-casting), might as well be playing a game from the 90's. See Morrowind.

Mount & Blade's combat is pretty basic too, but I'd take an improved M&B combat system over TES crap any day.

Hopefully Taleworlds manages this game's community better than Warband. I got banned on their forums last April for trying to get a team into competitions. Still no fix from their support or forum staff.
