Grand Theft Auto Online launches on October 1st. However, GTA5's multiplayer will debut with a limited number of modes. When it goes live, you'll be able to enjoy the open world with up to 16 players. You'll also be able to take on various jobs and missions. You'll also be able to race and play various sports, including tennis, golf, and base jumping.

Additional features will be introduced as the game matures. For example, co-op heist missions will be introduced within "the first few weeks of Grand Theft Auto Online." In addition, GTA Online will eventually add Capture the Flag mode and "The Beach Bum Pack," which adds over 300 new items into the game--including 4 vehicles and 2 weapons.

The Content Creator is also scheduled for after launch. With this tool, you'll be able to create and publish your own deathmatch battles and races.

According to Rockstar's official blog, "all of these updates will be free." And while none of these expansions are dated, Rockstar tells fans that "we will probably add some extra stuff as well." Rockstar also confirmed microtransactions, saying "if you're the completely instant gratification type, you can choose to buy denominations of GTA$".

Can't come soon enough. Bored to tears with SP.

Because you've played it to death, or actually found it boring?

Because Trevor's missions are fucking hilarious - if nothing else, there's those.

I'm at 50% completion and it's getting tedious. The cool/fun stuff is too spread out with too much busywork in between.

What's the busywork for you? I find getting around the world and taking it all in is more enjoyable than the actual missions sometimes. I turned off the GPS routes an hour in, so maybe not being led around and told exactly where to turn every single corner has something to do with it.

And in between I'm getting distracted by side activities and random events, even some property missions that occasionally popup. Strangers and freaks. There's a lot of stuff I haven't even tried yet.

The only thing that I found that could be considered tedious for the post-game is the hunt for collectibles.

Played it to death lol. The game is great, but after the story there's not much but collection missions, I'm about 86% but a bit tedious and I don't care about cheezos.

          But online looks fuckin rad

I wonder if your character syncs across 360 and PS3 versions, since it uses Rockstar Social Club?

Not sure why anyone would pick this up on 360.
If you bought the ps3 version you can upgrade it to ps4. Its a no brainer.

Playstation has a program in place for their new console. If you bought certain game on this current gen you can pay $10 and have it working on your ps4 as well.

I know all that, but you're making some wild assumptions.

PS4 version is not confirmed and the $10 upgrade deal is not for all games.
360 version runs a little better - all multiplatform games do. It's trivial here, but it's still true.
I like the 360 controller better for GTA.
360 online is much easier to use and play with friends.
More installation/streaming options for GTA than PS3.

Probably because GTA5 hasn't been announced on next-gen platforms.

I wouldn't be surprised to see them do this if/when it is.

I think 16 players is a good balance against the NPCs and traffic, plus the cops.

will gta online be stand alone, or do you need to buy 5?
