Killer Instinct introduces Sadira, re-debuts Orchid

Killer Instinct has debuted a brand new fighter named Sadira, while also teasing the addition of classic femme fatale Orchid.

The trend for Killer Instinct thus far has been to remind fans of old-school Super NES fighter by bringing out classic characters. So it's a bit of a surprise to see that Double Helix is debuting an all-new character to the Xbox One-exclusive franchise--while welcoming back another.

Sporting a red hooded shawl and sharp claws along her wrists, Sadira can be seen in a new debut trailer (via Gamespot) bringing the pain to Saberwulf. She also seems to be tied to a spider web motif, as she can be seen using a web swing to propel herself towards her opponent for higher combos.

Of course, it wouldn't be a Killer Instinct trailer if a second character wasn't teased, as well. The trailer ends with Jago turning around to find the series' old femme fatale, Orchid. Oh, and she has a tiger now, for some reason.

As previously stated, Killer Instinct will include one free playable character, but you can get the game's first eight characters for $19.99. Killer Instinct is expected to arrive in time for the Xbox One's launch.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?

"Oh, and she has a tiger now, for some reason."

In the original Killer Instinct, she had a move where she morphed into a tiger and charged her opponent.

I don't think it's a physical tiger. Jago was monk of a tibetan temple that idolized some tiger spirit. Jago in particular was chosen by the tiger spirit which gave him his super natural abilities such as throwing fire balls. In KI2 it is revealed that Jago and Orchid are siblings. Which probably explains Orchid's ability to project an aspect of tigers.

For some reason I have memorized this tid-bit of KI lore.

The real question is "Did they ever kiss?"

God, I completely forgot that Jago and Orchid are related.

Then in KI2 the "Tiger Spirit" is actually Gargos the final boss.....

They need to release a trailer with the remixed classic music, classic costumes, and original announcer for me to get even remotely interested in this game.

Well at least those are remixes... Did they say the classic KI soundtrack would be included. Hearing the Classic announcer makes this game so much better!!!!

I don't know which I enjoy more -- the fact that there's KI lore and backstory, or that someone is intimately familiar with it
