Hohokum's Guano Factory shows darker side of whimsy

Not every stage in Hohokum is bright and colorful, as evidenced by today's reveal of the Guano Factory stage.

Hohokum has been recognized for brightness and whimsy throughout its development. So it's a little surprising to see Honeyslug release a trailer for an area that's... not so whimsical.

The Guano Factory, revealed on the PlayStation.Blog, shows a somewhat darker side to the upcoming indie title. The trailer shows a machine-filled facility filled with conveyor belts, pipes, questionable fluids, and an overall darker color scheme. The new stage also showcases a track from Ghostly International artist Matthew Dear, one of the founders of the record label providing the game's soundtrack.

Hohokum will slide onto the PS4, PS3, and Vita in 2014.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
