SimCity Red Cross DLC raising money for charity

Right, so you're unhappy when EA releases ads as free DLC for SimCity, or paid DLC, or DLC free with toothpaste, but what about DLC which helps charity? What's that? You won't pay $9.99 for some pointless Red Cross odds and ends? Oh, what a monster you are!

EA today launched the Red Cross Disaster Relief DLC, which adds a new Red Cross Relief Center building to send Red Cross tents and vehicles out around your city when disaster strikes. Once EA covers the costs of making this, 80% of its proceeds (minus taxes) will go to the Red Cross. It'll cough up a minimum of $100,000, though. The DLC's sold through Origin, if you're swayed by this sort of things.

I would rather just donate the $10 directly to the Red Cross than play this piece of shit game again.

Same, or even give it to a Humble Bundle that supports the Red Cross.

It's no laughing matter! You know how much money the red cross spends to help the virtual victims of the latest CoD game? No? I didn't think so...

I actually know exactly how much they spend on that.

I wish the Red Cross would leave video games alone. The reason why the health packs in Sin Episodes: Emergence said "Freeport Trauma Recovery Center" was (IIRC) because the Red Cross was cease-and-desisting any game developer who was using a red cross (or any color cross) on their health packs. Most games moved to the six-spoke cross and/or Cerberus staff. Quake 4 was another title that went through this, as did the XBLA versions of Doom and Doom 2, IIRC.

God, the Red Cross is just AWFUL when it comes to "protecting their brand." Basically any 80s or 90s console title had a really high chance of being interfered with by the Red Cross if there were any crosses in the game at all, particularly US localized versions. Earthbound had to have major asset reworkings done because all the hospitals had (shocker) red crosses on them to denote they were hospitals.

Red Cross is as bad as Komen when it comes to aggressively suing people for ridiculous reasons. The only reason they haven't gotten the Komen treatment is because their organization actually does something.
