Remember how video games used to include manuals inside the box? Nowadays, you'll generally find a little slip of paper warning you about seizures and a link to a PDF on a publisher's website. But at least Rockstar Games has an excuse if your copy of Grand Theft Auto 5 doesn't include an instruction booklet with the game--it's over a hundred pages long.

As such, you'll be able to download The Manual app on the App Store. The official app goes over things like controls and game features, but also gives you an idea of some of the activities you can partake in with the game. There's also an interactive version of the game map you can zoom in and explore, which should come in handy.

Although the iOS version is available now, Android and Windows Phone owners will have to wait a little bit longer. The app will also be coming to PC and Mac--even if the game isn't.

Why make an app? Why not just a free PDF or something? Huh.

because it has an interactive digital version of the map in it. Also they are going to release a PC app version of it according to the site.

As a android user I'm guessing that I will have finished the game before this app is released.

I know, it pisses me off that Android is so big now and we still get everything AFTER iOS. Aren't there more people worldwide with Android?

Its not so much an issue of marketshare but perceived fragmentation. You have different carriers modifying android installs or lack of updates to the point where some Apps refuse to run. Testing and QA can solve these issues but some developers just want an easier target.

Is 100 page supposed to be huge? Then why could they release game with much bigger manual in the past?
Falcon 4 released with a real manual that was almost 600 page. it was quite common for old game to have 100 page manual.
Baldur s gate 2 which wasnt as complex as those flight sims had a 130 page one.

I wasn't aware that the size of the manual is now a decisive factor about a game's quality?

And yes, manuals used to be huge- FOR SOME GAMES. For sims like Falcon- duh, of course. As for Baldur's Gate, a good chunk of the manual was explanation of the AD&D rules (almost useful as a kind of quickstart rulebook) and spells.

However, I am not aware of a whole lot of action games like GTA having 100 page manuals, not even "back then".

So your whole post comes across as "why is it worth mentioning when a genre that usually has tiny manuals has a huge manual- after all, there were bigger manuals for completely unrelated genres that needed them much more!"
