Part of the joy of any Pokemon game is watching your adorable little starters evolve into terrifying death monsters. The new Mega Evolution system in Pokemon X and Y adds another layer on top of that, making the third evolution even more fearsome and powerful. A new trailer shows off the starter Mega Evolutions, along with a handful of others for good measure.

The starters--Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie--can mega evolve into Quilladin, Braixen, and Frogadier, respectively. The trailer also shows that Mewtwo can actually evolve into two forms based on the version. The previous one we saw was from Pokemon Y, but he can also evolve into Mega Mewtwo X. Yes, this is getting a bit silly, but in the best possible way. Check out the trailer for a look at those and some assorted others.

Mega Mewtwo X all the way! I haven't bought a Pokemon game at launch in forever. I am really excited for this one.

So you'd rather go with the one with the huge bulging package..interesting.

Shouldn't the more masculine Mewtwo be Y instead of X?
