Gran Turismo for PS4 'will be done in a year or two'

Developer Polyphony Digital are working on a PS4 Gran Turismo game. And it may come sooner than you think.

Many GT fans are upset that Gran Turismo 6 is debuting on PS3--after the launch of PS4, in fact. However, developer Polyphony Digital are working on a PS4 version as well--and it could be ready as soon as "a year or two" from now.

Speaking to Famitsu (via Polygon), series creator Kazunori Yamauchi said bluntly that "the PlayStation 4 game which we'll likely call GT7 will be done in about a year or two, I think, and I think the community aspect's going to be vital there as well." Of course, Polyphony Digital isn't known for being the most punctual of development teams.

And while PS4 is undoubtedly more powerful than PS3, Yamauchi says not to count out Sony's current-gen system. "PlayStation 4's large memory size is a unique trait," he said, "but in terms of CPU performance, the PS3's Cell chip, while difficult to handle, is really capable. They both have different advantages."

Oh please. Why would they be quicker this time? He doesn't give any reasons, it just seems to him like it could happen.

"We've been spending the last year alone making the menus 18% faster! Improvements like that are just not possible on last gen hardware"

I project a release date that is firmly in the middle of the PS4 lifecycle.

I hope they have the decency to separate the shiny new next-gen content from the shoehorned recycled content-bloating bits this time around. It'll feel less like a bait-and-switch like that.
