In between sessions of Final Fantasy 14, you can peruse a new official companion app. "Libra Eorzea" is now available for iOS and grants access to a game database, and also lets you see your character on the go.

Libra Eorzea is available as a free download from the App Store. A Character Profile viewer lets you log into your account to check out your attributes and gear, and search around for other players to see their own equipment. It also features a Game Database, which doesn't require a subscription, that lets you browse items, quests, NPCs. Square Enix promises that the database will continuously update as the MMO grows; the game will be updated every three months.

I wonder, what is it that makes IOS so attractive that big gaming houses find it fit to release a *companion* app on only one mobile platform? I understand the need for it with paid for apps and games, but not this.

        The market yields stronger results.

While more people are on Android, the iOS demographic buys more apps.

The hardware is less varied, too, so easier to develop.

This app is actually pretty damn nifty. I just might happen to find myself using it.

I use it when I gain a level and want to figure out if I can get better gear now.
