Xbox One to launch November 22

Microsoft announced today that the Xbox One is coming on November 22.

Microsoft announced today that the Xbox One will launch on Friday, November 22, for $499. This puts it just a week after the launch of the PlayStation 4. Microsoft's Yusuf Mehdi points out that this is the same launch date as Xbox 360.

The announcement left details sparse, other than a list of the 13 available launch markets, which includes the US and much of Europe. The company also announced that additional Day One units are still available for pre-order, and confirmed yesterday's CPU increase.

I wonder if they wanted to go earlier, but needed the extra two weeks to get more consoles off the line. But Sony is in a great position now, if they can meet demand and Microsoft can't then when the Xbox launches anyone who might have been waiting in line for an xbox and didn't get one might decided to just get a PS4 since there already there.

i don't get why people didn't just preorder both on day one from amazon and then cancel whichever you don't want (or CL/ebay it).

I was wondering this too, especially among the more "gamer" types. The Bombcast guys talking about people walking in to buy Eminem and CoD and just grabbing an XBO for the hell of it struck me as just ludicrous.

I would not ever deal with waiting in line and/or hoping I get something like a game system. I get it day one, shipped to my house for free...why the hell would you do anything else?

IIRC, most of the time those are actually available pre-launch so maybe? I'm just going with a single controller for now.

Well this is the first time I am getting a console at launch (not counting the Vita), so I kinda wanted the experience of waiting in at the mall with my friends.

I mean, if you're young and have the time and friends to do it with, I can see that.

But man, clicking a link on Amazon a few months ago and it just showing up at my house in November is pretty sweet as a working parent who cannot even fathom doing the midnight thing.

100% this ^^^^ this is the very first launch I will not be part of physically in a line or going to a store.

I Amazoned both the PS4 and Xbox1 it is pretty rad I don't have to stress or wake up early the consoles just come to my door 100% no worries.

Maybe there are some gamers that still enjoy the whole lien up waking up early taking the day off skipping school etc?

Still getting burned in a line(cough PS3) and not getting a new console really sucks when it happens. So being 100% secure and guaranteed a new console to me is the only way to go now a days with Amazon.

This is what I did - I'm not sure I'm keeping the Xbox but if not then I'll probably flip it since I'm sure people will be wanting the OMG DAY ONE ACHIEVEMENT.

I don't think there will be any PS4s sitting on the shelf when the Xbox One launches. This is just my gut feeling.

They may both be holding a stash to drop Black Friday week, but even then I bet they are both sold out through Christmas.

Considering they started shipping units today, I doubt it.

They're going to release on the 50th anniversary of the JFK assassination?

Not that I think the day is sacred or anything but I would think you would want the news to be discussing your product instead of the half-century anniversary of such a significant event.

I am not really all that worried about the release date personally. Most of the anticipated game titles are going to be coming out later on next year. I have money squared away to buy the consoles but I am going to wait to see how they are going to be received.

good for them, I thought they would be worse off, but with one week separation they won't really be losing out much based on launch timing.

I haven't bought console games in a while but damn they're expensive in the UK.

Have they got a digital store sorted out yet or can you only buy through the store on the XB1?
