Square Enix is offering seven free days of play to compensate for the server troubles that plagued the re-launch of Final Fantasy 14. And while players will get a free week, the company noted that it will have to take servers offline for about a day, to help ease server load.
GameSpot reports that the additional seven days of playtime will go towards anyone who redeems their trial period (included in the package) by September 9.
"Because login and character creation restrictions have hindered our ability to provide quality service, all Final Fantasy 14 service accounts will receive an additional seven days of free play time," Square Enix said. "Moving forward, we will continue monitoring the servers to ensure that quality service and support are provided in a timely manner."
You might want to wait until tomorrow to start, though. The servers will be taken offline from 5PM PT today through 3AM PT tomorrow. This maintenance period will increase the number of Worlds, increase the number of available logins per server, and reduce stress on the Duty Finder servers. All in all, it should be a much nicer experience.
