PS4 receiving exclusive content from 20 third-party publishers and developers
The PS4 is set to receive exclusive content from 20 third-party developers, including the Elder Scrolls Online beta and Destiny content.
The PS4 won't be short on exclusive third-party content following its launch. This year's GameStop Expo revealed that 20 third-party publishers and developers are partnering up with Sony to deliver exclusives for the new console. Some of what you can expect is Bungie offering content for Destiny, Ubisoft delivering content for Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag and Watch Dogs, and Bethesda offering the exclusive Elder Scrolls Online beta.
Here's the full list (via Develop):
- Activision Blizzard (for Diablo III)
- Atlus
- Bethesda Softworks (The Elder Scrolls Online exclusive PS4 beta)
- Bluepoint Games (Unspecified "Sony classic" title)
- Bungie (for Destiny)
- Capcom (Deep Down)
- Disney Interactive
- EA
- Insomniac Games
- Konami
- Level-5
- Nordic Games
- Sanzaru Games
- Sega
- Square Enix
- Sumo Digital
- Take-Two (including Rockstar Games)
- Ubisoft (for Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, Watch Dogs)
- Warner Bros. (Batman: Arkham Origins)
- Zindagi Games
Interestingly, the list mentions exclusive content from Warner Bros. for Batman: Arkham Origins. However, Warner Bros. recently denied that the game would be coming to PS4 or Xbox One. The listing here is likely referencing the exclusive skins announced earlier this year for PS3.
It's a strong third-party exclusive lineup, one that Sony will be taking to battle against Microsoft's own Xbox One exclusives, like Insominiac's Sunset Overdrive, Capcom's Dead Rising 3, EA's exclusive FIFA 14 content, and of course, Activision's timed exclusive Call of Duty: Ghosts DLC.

Sony needs to finally announce some of these exclusive games. I feel like after all the talk of the xbox one not having any games microsoft just announced the majority of their exclusives already while sony just announced the ones coming out near launch. Clearly there are a lot of games being worked on for the PS4. You got this list of 3rd party companies and many of their 1st party studios including naughty dog and media molecule which have yet to announce anything. Looking forwardt to seeing what these new consoles end up getting. Can't wait for November 15th to get my PS4 with Knack and killzone though!!!

It's a business construct; it's exclusionary, profiteering, and bandied around as marketing. Consumers get stuck buying that platform or losing enthusiasm on that game, and the developer's community management has to field that anger. The money doesn't go toward better games; it just goes toward some sales executive's bonus (hi, Jack Tretton).
Dropping platform exclusives in video games is like Congress adopting term limits: it's something that should be done for the better of society, but the system punishes the very idea of its execution, and every regime of leaders who filters in year after year simply kicks the can down the road.

I'm not trying to convince you that it's a game for you, just the way you're blowing it off doesn't seem to have anything to do with the way the people who you're sourcing say it plays.
They say that it feels a lot like CoD in that it's got the high framerate FPS, but that it plays like nothing they have played in the genre before. They keep saying that it specifically doesn't play anything like CoD. So, if you're like me, and you don't play CoD, it's still something you can look forward to.
The mechs are a way to change the scale back and forth, not necessarily just a tank like function.

SNES / Genesis - Both had strong line of exclusives but ultimately the SNES played the major multi-ports better. If I recall correctly, it was the SNES that had the wider range of games and probably a bigger library.
PSX / Saturn - Saturn had a very strong line of exclusives but the PSX not only had a much larger variety it played the multi-ports better by multitudes. Saturn simply didn't compete.
PS2 / X-box / Gamecube - PS2 won out likely from system features and game library. All were pretty neck and neck in terms of how well the multi-ports played. Despite the strong exclusives from the X-box and Gamecube, the PS2 still had the largest library and won out.
PS3 / 360 - While the PS3 had the stronger line of exclusives, the 360 played the multi-ports better for the most part. I'm not 100% but I do believe that the 360 also had the larger library.
What I'm getting at is that exclusives, while important, aren't the key factor for being top dog. Trends show that it's for the most part the overall library of games released and how well they play. In this gen, I think what will play a crucial factor is not how well the system performs, but how well it's managed and marketed. Not only on the consumer side, but how well either appeals to the 3rd party developers.-
What criteria are you using? It sounds like you're saying sales=best from the PS2 segment (even though that basically sold as a DVD player). In that case, the Wii absolutely blitzed the PS3 and 360 out of the water with an almost equal software tie ratio http://www.vgchartz.com/analysis/platform_totals/Tie-Ratio/Global/ with the majority of software sales being exclusives.
You can't just ignore Wii as a non-console because it discredits your argument, it's a total No True Scotsman fallacy. Commercially, Wii was top dog on its exclusives. Non comercially, exclusives are hugely important to gamers. You have no point.

I just got done building a sweet rig for watchdogs (crossfired 7970 2gig, 8 core 4ghz vishera, 16 gig 2400 mhz and SSD )
I was still going to get both consoles for different first party titles, which was something I was excited about. I can play exclusive games with their respective system and pump up third party titles on the PC (Read : Ubisoft lineup), but I don't want to feel like I'm missing out on stuff because sony has some bullshit stranglehold on this generation like they did two gens ago.
This system is shaping up to piss me off. -

Terrible news that makes me dislike the companies who participate. Console exclusives in an age of neck-and-neck ownership and desirability makes sense from a business perspective for Sony and Microsoft, but is a big fuck you to their consumers who will inevitably miss out either way. Buying both consoles isn't a reality for most people within the same year.
