Little-known RPG Bound by Flame was originally due later this year for PC and current-gen consoles. However, developer Spiders Studio isn't content on shipping on just one generation. The game's also due for PS4 come early 2014. For the uninitiated, the story focuses around a mercenary possessed by a flame demon, and decisions over whether to let the demon take more control will have an effect on the hero's appearance and powers. "Players will have to choose between the powers offered by their host, or to keep their humanity, developing heroic talents instead. Dangers and enemies, becoming more terrifying and fearsome in battle, will be temptations to acquire more power by giving up part of the hero's soul to the demon," publisher Focus Home Interactive said. Essentially, how easy you want the game will be determined by how much of your soul you're willing to give up. Whereas the original announcement came with just one screenshot, today's update includes a lot more. Pretty soon, the developer might even release one of those moving pictures we're so fond of.

The monster design looks pretty cool, and it's an interesting concept. Great concept, but the narrative and emotional power of the whole "giving up your soul" thing depends entirely upon the writing and characterization.
