Finally! Wii U is getting its first price drop, just in time for a holiday filled with new releases. Starting September 20th, the Deluxe bundle will drop $50--down to $299.99. In addition, a "limited-edition" Deluxe bundle including The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD will also be available on the same day.

The bundle includes a black Wii U console, a GamePad featuring a gold Hyrule crest and symbols from the game, and a download code for a digital version of Hyrule Historia. It also comes with a copy of the game.

If you already own Wii U, you'll be able to pick up The Wind Waker HD on the eShop on September 20th. If you want a retail package, you'll be able to pick up a disc in stores on October 4th. The retail version includes gold-foil packaging, while a special GameStop-exclusive bundle includes a Ganondorf figurine. The eShop and standard editions will go for $49.99, while the special edition goes for $54.99.

Excellent move, even though it's a punch in the gut for Nintendo financially. Still, no worse a pummeling than they've taken by NOT moving consoles since last November.

Honestly, the Wii U will be very much worth owning by Christmas. Zelda Wind Waker HD, Super Mario 3D World, a new DK Country (haters gon' hate; I love me some 2D DKC), plus great games like Pikmin 3 and Rayman Legends--games that don't move systems by themselves, but become appealing once one has the console to run them.

Dropping the 3DS price when they did was a gut punch, too, but one that wound up working out in the long run. They're hoping history repeats itself and that parents who go holiday shopping get turned off by the PS4 and Xbox One barrier of entry and opt for, "Hey, this Nintendo thing is $300 and it comes with a game!"

Good on you Nintendo. Let's see how much it helps with sales this holiday season.

      Hell yeah.
I got my Gamecube with the Zelda Collector's edition and Wind Waker.
Now I shall get my Wii U on with more Wind Waker.

"But Nintendo can't afford to drop the price!" Cool, might get one early next year while a few more games come out.

Wow, the tone of the Shack on the Wii U sure seems to have changed. Is 299 the magic number for nintendo? I think 250 would be, but we will see.

Yes really... Sorry but I don't think I'll ever have another Nintendo device....I played the shit out of every Nintendo system I ever had until the Wii...that thing just sits there and collects dust.

The best thing with Nintendo is to just wait a few years. None of their games have a really strong multiplayer component or period of relevance. They are great games and they will be 2 years from now. I won't give a shit about battlefield 4 when 5 or 6 are out, but I'll go back and play all the Zelda's I've missed.

This is a problem for Nintendo because by then I'm buying the console off craigslist for $100 and the games for $10 on amazon.
