Borderlands 2 level cap increase coming September 3

Gearbox has shared more details on the level cap bump, "Overpower" levels, and Headhunter missions coming as DLC to Borderlands 2.

Borderlands 2 isn't done with downloadable content by a long shot. On September 3rd, the level cap will be bumped all the way up to 72. And a future update will let you "Overpower" beyond that too.

The upcoming Digistruct Peak area sends you on a mission from Patricia Tannis, in which you make your way through a series of Borderlands 2 enemies. It's balanced for four players, so not the sort of thing you want to take on solo. The enemy classes will grow progressively stronger, and then become more randomized as you gain new "Overpower" levels.

Though the new level cap will be set at 72, the Overpower levels let you go past that number. If you enter a special arena at max level, you'll be able to unlock those levels starting at Overpower level 1. Then, when you host the game with friends, you can set which Overpower level you want to play at. That will give you access to monsters and loot up to level 80.

Gearbox explained to Digital Trends that it is using this method, rather than a full unlock of level 80, because it is running out of skill points for players. Instead of letting players unlock every ability, Gearbox still wants to keep skill trees diverse.

I picked it up yesterday for the first time in a whle - was doing Captain Scarlett, where I left off. Did the sidequests. Used a golden key to get some upgraded guns (I was level 37 and was using 30s O_O). God, that game. Fun.

I'm still on my first playthrough, lvl 38 and the Hammerlock dlc feels like a grind, shit's been so boring. Torgue was horrible, Scarlett so so. I'm saving Tiny Tina's for last, hopefully it'll redeem the game.
I still can't wrap my head around people who are on their 3rd or 4rth playthough, the shooting is the most generic thing and the skill trees are all passive skills that add little fanfare to the whole thing.
Don't get me wrong, the writing in the main campaign was awesome and I enjoyed that the most, but the game itself not so much.

The DLC kind of sucked, I liked the main game, but in retrospect I probably didn't need the season pass.

I never played solo. So that probably helped keep it fun with each playthrough.

eh judging by how bored I was when I played the last DLC I knew I was done. I mean it was good but I've had enough

Tiny Tina was truly inspired. UTVHM is just a chore, though. I don't want more levels because that just means the game will just have enemies that are worse bullet sponges. Holy shit that Orc boss in Tiny Tina's in the dwarf mines took forever to kill and wasn't fun at all.

understood. but I think UTVHM was the right move. It makes any level your current level, which makes all content fresh. so its still fun. i believe Tiny Tina was so good that we get more real DLC before BL3

I would be ok with that. After all, at the end of Tiny Tina's DLC, (spoilers derp) the Hyperion spy they were beating in the basement the whole time gives up access to the Hyperion moon base. I bet that's where we're going next!

Next is the Digistruct Peak Challenge and then TK's Bloody Harvest. The latter is Halloween-themed to defeat a pumpkin boss. The Peak Challenge doesn't have much info on it.

like I said, it was good, I'm just burnt out on the game, same thing happened to me with Skyrim, after a few DLC's I just get the "been there done that" MOTS feeling

I have more than 100 hours clocked on this game and that's really enough for me. I still have the Tiny Tina DLC to play! Jesus Christ. Too much content!

Congrats to Gearbox for continuing to release content for this game. That being said, I was bored, annoyed, and more than done with this game well before the final battle; there's no chance I'm bothering with DLC. Most aspects of the first game were superior.

Really? I thought they nailed #2. I didn't bother with any DLC because it's still the same game over and over again, but what I did play, I thought was polished awesomeness. #1 was awesome, but it was a bit of a mess compared #2 imo

Yeah. The dichotomy of those who love BL1 vs BL2 would be an interesting study in itself. This guy sums up my issues with BL2: https://groups.google.com/d/msg/comp.sys.ibm.pc.games.action/ncOxUleZLac/WMnFH-I7utcJ

Now, L4D1 vs 2, I can understand and sympathize with those who prefer one over the other (1 has a darker tone and palette, etc), but I just took an instant dislike to most of BL2, and came away feeling they'd jumped the shark on this series.

Tried playing Borderlands 2. After 13 hours, I was bored out of my mind and quit. Maybe it would have been more fun if I wasn't playing solo...but the art style is terrible!

I can't get used to it. Even so, it's a boring game and I regret getting it, even on sale. I wish they had stuck with the "gritty" art style back when they were first designing the original Borderlands. Oh well. Did I mention it was boring?

It would have stopped my eyes from bleeding...and yes, the art style had a LOT to do with it being boring. It stressed my eyes out, it looked unappealing, and hell, if they just got rid of those black lines outlining everything, I would have spent more time playing the game. But it did strain my eyes since the art style is an eyesore...but again, at least make the black outline optional. I don't read comic books I don't want to play a comic book. I gave them a try at least.
