Apparently someone did name Halo 4 "Game of the Year." So that means Microsoft is technically allowed to release a GOTY edition of 343's debut shooter.

As is typical of these re-releases, the upcoming GOTY edition will include the original game and additional DLC at a budget price.

According to IGN, the GOTY edition will be available October for $50. It will include Spartan Ops Season 1, War Games Map Pass, the Halo 4 Champions Bundle, and the digital bonuses previously available to the Limited Edition.

"A Game of the Year Edition of Halo 4 will be offered this October, offering tremendous value for fans who want to enjoy one of the most critically acclaimed games of 2012, and additional DLC all in one place," a Microsoft rep told the site. "We will have more details to share during the live stream of the Halo Global Championship Finals this Sunday."
