Ys: Memories of Celceta is getting its own limited edition release, XSEED announced today. The "Silver Anniversary Edition" will include a host of goodies, for $59.99 instead of the standard $39.99 version.

The special edition will include a 3 CD set of music from the Ys franchise, a cloth map of Celceta, a branded compass, and a strategy/art book called "Adol's Travel Journal." XSEED notes that this is to mark the 25th anniversary of the series. The game will use the Vita's hardware capabilities, like zooming into battle with the front touch screen, and the ability to issue commands through the rear touch pad. It's due sometime this holiday season.

For a US audience the compass seems a bit throw-away, but otherwise I'd say this is a good take on how to do a modest anniversary packaging and price point. Maybe some kind of high quality documentary covering the history of the series would have been a better item than the compass though.

I guess I may be a bit spoiled on 2 Player Productions stuff though.
