The upcoming HD remaster of Final Fantasy X for Vita and PS3 is much more than a mere port. It has a new, extended ending. Not only have the character models been redone, but "the textures of the surrounding environment and backgrounds were also carefully redrawn." And as this new comparison video shows, the soundtrack has been given a modern revamp as well, doing away with the antiquated MIDI samples that were part of the original game.

Cool but again - is hard mode available right away? If so then I want it, if not then I won't bother. I'm not playing the whole game through just to unlock a fun mode that requires me to play it again. Knowing square-enix I can just see them making it a "new game +" mode rather than having it available right away.

I consider the default sphere grid thing to be simplistic, easy and an illusion of choice (you only have one real path). In hard mode I can make any character into a mage/fighter/etc

I would like to know this as well. Currently I'm not very interested, but if hard mode was available from the start, this might actually sell the game for me.

Am I missing something here? Are you talking about the advanced sphere grid? That was available from the first play through in the original wasn't it?

I have learned. Apparently the PAL version & International versions were updated so you could use the advanced sphere grid from the start of the game. NA and Japan never got this.

Given that it was meant as an update, I think its pretty likely it'll be in from the start in the remake.

This will be draining my Vita's battery for a long time. :)

Eww, I don't think I like the updated example. It sounds really...hollow I guess and that distortion guitar sample they are using now is horrible.
