Tropico developer Haemimont Games has decided to give the action-RPG genre a whirl, with the announcement of Victor Vran. The game, which CEO Gabriel Dobrev described as a "pet project," is due in early 2014. It's been in development for two years.

Joystiq reports that it looks similar to the Diablo series, albeit with some platforming elements like wall-jumping. The game will feature both single- and multiplayer, but companions will simply be reskinned versions of the protagonist. He'll be hunting monsters aided by tools like scythes, guns, and lightning guns for good measure.

Haemimont's last whack at the action genre was The First Templar, so we can hope Victor is a bit better than that attempt.
