By Ozzie Mejia, Aug 23, 2013 11:00am PDT

The gaming world's eyes turn to Cologne during this Gamescom week. Hosts Garnett Lee and Jeff Cannata welcome Shacknews' Andrew Yoon and Double Jump's Christian Spicer to talk about the latest to come out of Gamescom, such as the PS4 and its confirmed launch date. But there are also a lot of games that have hit North American shores to discuss, including Hearthstone, Gone Home, and the upcoming The Wolf Among Us. The show then sends you off into your weekend with a new round of Finishing Moves.

  • What grinds my gears is the weekend crew is drinking the PS4 hate train koolaid and not realizing the shortcomings of games coming out for a supposedly superior system. There is no advancement in innovation or gaming from PS4 while Xbox One has cloud computing, upgraded Kinect camera way ahead of playstation eye and upgraded online infrastructure of xbox live which is way superior than PSonline. PS4 only has one thing to tout about and that is indies and last time I checked it does not sell systems.

    Games like Titanfall sell systems.

All the messaging Sony has done is negative campaigning against Xbox which shows their weakness on what they offer...just an upressed PS3 with no innovation, no upgrade to online infrastructure, no cloud computing strategy, playstation eyeless advancement, and probably the biggest downfall lack of games. you can have your indie's but my money is for titan fall, Forza 5, Ryse, Dead Rising, Killer Instinct, sunset overdrive, and next Halo oh and all the other third party games that probably play better on xbox one like Call of Duty, Battlefield and Need for Speed.

    Peter just dropped the mic.

    • Based on last gen, wouldn't it be fair to say that Sony has some good exclusives coming down the pipe? We don't know what Naughty Dog is working on for example, nor Sony Santa Monica, nor what the Order actually is.

A lot of the negativity generated against Microsoft was generated by Microsoft itself. If my rival is going to give me fuel to help my pr campaign wouldn't Sony have been foolish not to take advantage of it? In the short-term it seems to has worked since it appears Sony has more hype for it's launch but long-term games will decide things.
