I wonder if Valve put up the fake CS ad on EBWorld just to get a feel for player sentiment. The more positive the response (e.g. postings at fan sites) the higher the eventual price. Conversely, if the response were negative, they could sell it for less or not at all.

I believe this just illustrates the difference between doing something for the love of it and doing something for money. Congrats to the CS team for all that they've accomplished so far.
