Finnish developer Housemarque has revealed Resogun, their spiritual successor to Super Stardust. Like its predecessor, Resogun is a twin-stick bullet-hell shooter, which will take advantage of many of the PS4's hardware capabilities.

Unlike its contemporaries, Resogun takes place along a cylindrical plane and allows players to switch directions at any time to address incoming enemies. "RESOGUN is an intense, fast-pace shooter that expands our love for the genre and represents a sort of culmination of all our expertise, both technical and gameplay-related," said Housemarque's Mikael Haveri on the PlayStation.Blog. "The cylindrical gameplay is closer to old school 2D shooters, and one interesting side effect of that is that the world has gravity now. You actually expect things to fall down, there are ground enemies… these elements completely change the playfield compared to the Stardust series."

In addition to shooting anything that moves, players can complete various objectives, such as rescue missions that reward power-ups when completed. Resogun can be played solo or cooperatively with friends.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
