The Sims 4 gameplay trailer is emotionally manipulative

Word may have leaked out early, but EA went ahead with its big The Sims 4 reveal at Gamescom today. We already knew that it's trying to make sims more emotional, but now we have a gameplay trailer demonstrating that, as well as showing off the fancy new character creator, and, er, having sex in a space-rocket.

According to EA, the virtual people now act because of, and in reaction to, emotions. "Because players are in control of life's triumphs and failures, life's moments make stories richer, Sims more relatable and their homes more personal," it says. What tragic deaths we shall cause.

The Sims 4 is coming to PC and Mac in 2014 and no, it won't force you online.

That looks really cool but it looks like you will have to direct them a whole bunch for anything interesting to happen.

Maybe its easier than it sounds or just gives you more control to jack with other Sims and open up more interaction pathways that previously took more effort or was non-existant previously. So far I really am liking the animations and the character creator looks like it will be fun.

WOW, that character creator should be the standard for all games from now on. No more annoying sliders!
