Dying Light trailer: 12 minutes of parkour and zombies

Dying Light's premise of "parkour with zombies" may sound more fun than, well, most zombie games anyway, but how does it actually look in practice? A 12-minute 'gameplay' trailer shows Dead Island creator Techland does have something interesting here, with wonky combat on top of that something interesting for some reason or another.

Though it's called "gameplay" from a pre-alpha build, the video appears to be one of those carefully arranged and scripted demos used to wow press--the sort of thing our Andrew had trouble seeing past when it was unveiled in May. Consider this a demonstration of what Techland hopes Dying Light will end up as.

That vision is of an open world where you'll scavenge for supplies by day, and hope you don't get mobbed at night. Other survivors can be problems too. Along with more kicky-punchy moves than Dead Island, it'll carry over that game's ideas of crafting weapons like electrified knives.

Dying Light is due on PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 4 in 2014.
