Update - Added information regarding console players claiming the PC code. Lord of the Rings-themed MOBA Guardians of Middle-Earth started out as a console-friendly take on the popular PC genre. And now, it's coming back home. Warner Bros and Monolith announced today that GoME is coming to PC on August 29. The PC version will include all of the characters, map skins, and Survival mode that were paid downloadable content on consoles, though you'll still have to purchase some items with in-game currency earned from playing matches. All 36 characters will also have alternate skins for purchase through Steam, letting you choose for example to play as Gandalf the Grey or his shiny White duds.

Warner Bros told Shacknews that console players will be able to claim a code for the PC version by checking their "Profile" section and then looking up the VIP code, and inputting it into Steam. That will gain them access to the base game in their Steam library. If you didn't purchase it on console, you have a choice of three versions. The "Smaug's Treasure" version for $9.99 gives you a Smaug's Greed Relic and some in-game gold. The standard option, simply called Guardians of Middle-Earth, will cost $19.99 and include Gandalf, Galadriel, Hildifons, Mozgog, Bert, Legolas, and alternate skins for each. The "Mithril Edition" is $79.99, includes all of the characters and alternate skins, and grants you a Mithril Guardian Relic and a buddy key to give a friend. If you want to take a shortcut to unlocking characters, the store will sell six Guardian Packs at $14.99 apiece, each of which includes five guardians with their alternate skins.

The console version is basically a train wreck. Riddled with technical and networking bugs. Easily most buggy game I've ever played on console. All that said, when it works, it's actually quite fun.
