Because it's a sequel, Plants vs Zombies 2: It's About Time needs to add new plants. While your winning strategy of cattail and pumpkins may still be effective in PopCap's new game, you'll still want to experiment with some of the new garden defenders.

Perhaps our favorite of the new plants is the chili bean, which causes zombies that eat it to die and fart, damaging any undead behind it. There's also the bonk choy, a short-ranged melee plant that pairs nicely with a wall-nut and oyster sauce.

These plants should be familiar to our friends down under who have been playing the free-to-play game for quite some time. The rest of us, however, have to wait as PopCap figures out exactly how much money to charge us for its various microtransactions.

'Plants vs Zombies 2: It's Not Out Yet' really needs to hurry up and finish itself so I can buy me some of these plants.

Uh, every major mobile developer soft launches upcoming titles in smaller markets to beta test the game and monetization strategy. Only after they have worked out any issues that arise from those early tests and had a chance to iterate on feedback do they bring the game to the bigger markets.

not sure if its the new model or what, but both my partner and myself got over it pretty quick. My partner played the original PvZ for months, she just couldnt put it down. The second is a great game, but just doesnt capture you like the first one did. Something is missing.

It could be the animal crossing effect where the sequels tire quickly.

I'm loving the latest one. You just can't play every one of the games though, but New Leaf is where the gameplay finally 'gels', if I may be so bold.

When are they going to release this thing? Pretty soon you'll be able to remove the "Coming: Summer 2013" tags. Derp!

According to the PvZ Facebook page, tomorrow. At least, that's how I interpret their sharing of the App Store's status "It’s about time. Guess what game is coming tomorrow?" with a picture of the Zombie's arm.
