Payday 2 planning a year of DLC, including female robbers

Payday 2 game director David Goldfarb said the studio has a year of DLC planned, including plans to make a playable female character.

Payday 2 is launching today, but like any career criminal it will always be looking for that last big score. Overkill apparently has a full year of downloadable content planned, and among the plans are the ability to pull heists as the fairer sex.

Game director David Goldfarb mentioned the DLC roadmap to OXM, and committed to including a female robber as one of the top priorities.

"I know, actually that's one of the first things I have on my list, is to make sure we get a female character," Goldfarb said. "I'm hoping--I don't know if we'll get it as our first DLC, because we'd have to redo all the animations so it doesn't look like a dude walking around with a female body. But I'd like to do that." He started to say he'd like his two daughters to be able to "mask up," but then thought better of it considering the M-rating. "It's definitely on our list. One of the many things on our list."

I was thinking this game was already out. For days now I have been seeing at least 1 post a day on reddit talking about how awesome the game is and hyping it up.

well the official announcement was console versions would be out between the 13-16th so it could just be that gamefly is getting their copies later.

Isn't the main difference amongst robbers the masks though?

Women lack the upper body strength to drag sacks of cash to the getaway van.

It's not like who you pick really matters, you don't need to visually differentiate players during a game.

My friend swears that Wolf fails answering the pager more often than the others if none of them have that perk.

Can't say I've noticed that trend.

Yeah I think he's full of crap. I never messed up the few times I needed to do it.

Nope. The entire squad can only answer two pages per mission no matter who you are playing as. If someone has that perk, and then that one person can answer a 3rd page. You are best off having the person with that perk answer all the pages though just so someone else doesn't fuck it up.

That's kind of what I was saying. They only need to release one female PC because the main visual change will be from the different masks you can choose from in-game.

Still cool that they're putting that in the game, regardless.
