The popular mobile action-RPG series Squids is coming to 3DS and Wii U. Squids Odyssey compiles the first two games, and adds a few extra features to take advantage of Nintendo platform-specific features.

The core mechanics will remain the same, in which you grab squids by the tentacles and fling them across the battlefield to knock our your enemies. The game was lauded for its strategic mechanics and cute cast of characters, but some reviews criticized its in-app purchases.

The Wii U and 3DS versions will add a new Squid hero, new missions and helmets, and full use of both the GamePad and 3D functionality, respectively. The announcement promises two games, likely referring to Squids and its sequel, Squids Wild West. Here's what the original mobile game looked like:

Why didn't Alice write this story? Is she no longer the shack cephalopodian reporter?

I loved this game, it was a neat little surprise and for some reason gave me super strong Mario RPG vibes. I played the hell outta it!
