KickBeat dancing onto Vita and PS3 September

Zen Studios' musical combat game, KickBeat, has a release date. You, too, can start breakdance fighting September 3 on Vita and PS3.

The musical combat game, KickBeat, has been warming up since it was first announced back in May 2012, but Zen Studios is finally ready to bring their latest downloadable game to the dance floor/combat arena on September 3. In addition to the Vita version, Zen will release a PS3 version as well, and with Cross-Buy, a single purchase will unlock both versions.

KickBeat relies on fully 3D animated characters for action cues, rather than bars, arrows, and button icons used by other rhythm titles. Enemy attacks are cued to the beat of songs from artists like Marilyn Manson, Papa Roach, and Rob Zombie. If those artists don't satisfy your musical tastes, Zen Studios also told the PlayStation.Blog that players will be able to use their own music in the game.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
