Crytek sites hacked, user information possibly compromised

Crytek is the latest to suffer a hacker attack. Four sites have been affected and user information may have been compromised.

Set the number on the "Days Since Last Security Breach" sign back to zero. Crytek has announced "suspicious activity" was detected over the weekend on many of the developer's sites, including Crytek.com, MyCrysis.com, Crydev.net, and MyCryengine.com. The four sites were pulled and are currently offline.

Crytek has since stated that it is "possible" that login info and personal data may have been compromised. "Although it is uncertain whether the incident led to the copying and decryption of email addresses and passwords, it is possible that users with accounts at these websites have had personal data copied," a Crytek spokerperson told Eurogamer. "On Friday afternoon we started to contact all affected users via email and informed them of the potential security breach."

Users will be asked to change their passwords the next time they log into a Crytek site. Crytek has issued an apology and will notify users as soon as the affected sites are ready to go back online.
