It must be difficult working at the Tetris division of Electronic Arts. How do you iterate on a game that's pretty much perfect on its own?

Well, you experiment with all sorts of gimmicks. Like this: adding Pokemon-inspired monster battles into the mix. Japan will receive Tetris Monsters for iOS this summer, somehow combining Tetris with a monster collecting game. How it works is beyond us.

As Siliconera points out, this could be EA's attempt at countering the massively popular Puzzle & Dragons. Take a look:

      This actually makes perfect sense to me. Not only from the PAD perspective, but even going back to the Turbo Puzzle Fighter idea. Granted that was rather basic in execution vs combining with a CCG, but ti's still the same concept of using Tetris to determine attacks.
