Tekken x Street Fighter silence due to Street Fighter x Tekken

Tekken X Street Fighter, Namco Bandai's half of the crossover with Capcom, is still in development. Producer Katsuhiro Harada says they're waiting for the right time to give more details.

Remember Tekken x Street Fighter? The fighting crossover was announced alongside Street Fighter x Tekken, but we've heard barely a peep from its counterpart. It's still in development, but the continued support of SFxT made Namco reconsider its overall strategy for the game.

"We will say first off that the game is still in development, so you don't need to worry about that," producer Katsuhiro Harada told Siliconera. "There are several reasons why we haven't released any updates. One of the reasons is, Street Fighter x Tekken was released. That still had updates until recently."

Harada noted that another reason is that it wants to be careful to cultivate a new audience. He says the audience for Street Fighter x Tekken wasn't just fans of both series, but new players who hadn't invested in either one before. "That was very unexpected, but quite cool. It's something we want to take care and grow," he said. "Rather than throw out our title right away while those people are still interested in [Street Fighter x Tekken] we are looking for the right time because we are still developing [Tekken x Street Fighter]."

He was notably tight-lipped about any particular developments or even the roster, though. We know the company is busy on Super Smash Bros, so we may still be waiting a while to hear more about Namco Bandai's half of Tekken/Street Fighter partnership.
