A new month means new additions to the PlayStation Plus Instant Game Collection. Coming to PS3 in August are Hitman Absolution, Zen Pinball 2: Star Wars Pinball, and Bit.Trip Presents Runner2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien. IO Interactive's murder 'em up will be available to download with tomorrow's store update.

Handheld players will be able to try out adventure game Machinarium on Vita. While PSP and Vita owners can download Darkstalkers Chronicle: The Chaos Tower.

Do note that a number of other high-profile games are leaving the service, so make sure you add them to your Download List before they leave Plus. (You'll be able to re-download them any time later, so long as you keep your membership active.) Today is your last chance to get Battlefield 3, while God Eater Burst, Malicious, and Dokuro all leave the service throughout the month.

If you've yet to join PlayStation Plus and are interested, this deal from Best Buy seems like a good option. Normally $50 for a year, the retailer is selling it for $40.

Erhm? I'm fairly certain it's Crackdown and Dead Rising 2 (and the semi-follow up thing), right now.

I forgot about Dead Rising 2 (released in 2010). Crackdown though, is a 2007 game--released 6 years ago. I guess it's nice that they are releasing something, but it'd be better if they released something that hasn't been tossed out of the Bargain Bin yet.

Hitman Absolution is less than a year old.

They're solid games. Fun, even. Get over the age thing.

True - but wasn't Hitman Absolution also viewed as one of the 'failures' in SqueEnix's catalog of last year?

To that end, I'm more interested in Dead Rising 2 and even Crackdown than Hitman Absolution. It may be 'the newest hotness' but I'd rather pop in Hitman 2 or Blood Money than Absolution. But shit, those are old!
