Namco Bandai's announcement of Ace Combat Infinity last month was pretty light on details, basically saying only that it's a downloadable PS3-exclusive shooty plane game. Well gosh golly, the publisher today announced it's actually free-to-play, and dropped a new trailer.

As well as a single-player campaign, Ace Combat Infinity will have online multiplayer which Namco Bandai says sees two teams of up to four players "compete to inflict the most damage on a common enemy." What exactly it plans to sell to make money off the game is a secret for now.

Namco Bandai has been making a very aggressive push as of late for free-to-play on PS3, with Tekken Revolution and Ridge Racer Driftopia also being free-to-play.

The game's set in the near-future, when Earth has seemingly been struck by some nasty meteorites. It sounds quite a lot like the plot of Ace Combat 4: Shattered Skies, really, and even references its 'Stonehenge' railgun battery.

Ace Combat Infinity is due to launch on PS3 later in 2013.
