It's hard to imagine that a small outfit could ever compete with the likes of Capcom and Namco to make a fighting game good enough to be embraced by the competitive scene. Yet, Lab Zero managed to pull it off with Skullgirls. A passionate fan base has pushed the game onto Evo, and successfully crowdfunded five new characters.
The game is coming to PC later this month, but if you want to play it now, Shacknews has a number of beta keys for giveaway.
The beta version of Skullgirls has a number of changes and improvements over the current console version, including improved balance and the inclusion of the first DLC character, Squigly. The beta also grants access to a pre-release tournament which will offer over $2,000 worth of prizes. So, you probably want to play this.
We have 100 codes for Chatty, and we're giving them away on a first-come, first-serve basis. Best of all, the beta includes full access to the game's multiplayer modes until the game's official launch. To get access, simply tell us you want one. We'll distribute codes via SM (our private messaging system--check the top of the site for a notification!).
If we've run out of codes, you'll want to follow us on Facebook. We'll have another batch of codes for release later today.
Once you get into the beta, don't forget to register for the tournament! You'll be able to register right here.
