Europa Universalis IV can import Crusader Kings II saves

We can get so attached to the characters and worlds we create in video games, missing them even when we're done with the game itself. How thoroughly splendid, then, that Paradox has created a tool to convert Crusader Kings II saves into worlds playable in the upcoming Europa Universalis IV.

We can get so attached to the characters and worlds we create in video games, missing them even when we're done with the game itself. How thoroughly splendid, then, that Paradox has created a tool to convert Crusader Kings II saves into worlds playable in the upcoming Europa Universalis IV. The save converter tool "will read the details of a saved game from a Crusader Kings II and convert that into a game that can be played in Europa Universalis IV," Paradox explained in today's announcement. "Fans of Crusader Kings II will be able to maintain the empires they have established and guide them through the age of exploration in an all-new strategic experience, continuing their personal stories of expansion and conquest." It'll be on offer as a pre-order bonus for EU4, initially at least. If you've pre-ordered the empire-building grand strategy but have no use for a tool using Crusader Kings II saves, hey, good news! Paradox is bunging in a copy of CK2 as a pre-order bonus too. We dropped Paradox a line to find out whether the tool will be released or sold separately later but haven't heard back yet. One imagines it will, though; why wouldn't it be? Europa Universalis IV arrives for PC, Mac and Linux on August 13 at $30. As well as CK2 and the tool, extra events and unit models are thrown in as pre-order bonuses, so head here if you're the pre-ordering type.
