In case you were gone over the weekend, the new comment system backend is in place. It shouldnt be much different for you guys with the exception of some better URL recognition and slightly faster. We've got a snag in there that showed up late last night eating some server CPU (and goofing up the latest comments box). Thats gonna keep the RA3 server from coming online until Andy can resolve it. It looks like I'll be moving the 2nd week of August. It's more than likely going to put a dent in the update schedule around here as I'm making a stop over to visit the parents for 5 days on the way. FYI the Shack server will be remaining in Texas. Lastly, yeah 3dshack.com domain is hosed. The box that was hosting the DNS moved before I could get stuff switched (I forgot). Probably get that fixed today, oops. Rodents of Unusual Size?

  • They said the asteroid was "the size of Texas"

Texas is (give or take) 260,000 square miles. Drilling down 800 feet (a little over 1/8 of a mile) ain't gonna do DIDDLY!

In the reaction shots after the asteroid exploded, we see people looking up at the explosion from various points on the Earth. The Taj Mahal, New York, Paris, etc. From all these places, it is daylight. This is not possible.

They somehow determined the "perfect" place to drill, however they overshot their mark by 25 miles and landed on "a metal plate" but still managed to drill down 800 feet, deposit the nuke, set it off and end up doing exactly what they were supposed to do.

They originally took 2 shuttles (presumably with 2 nukes also). Later on they decide to detonate the nuke from Earth prematurely, zany hijinks ensue, and the bomb is stopped at the requisite 1 second mark. Why did the Guv'ment not detonate the other nuke as well?

Why were gatling guns mounted on the drilling machines? Lucky for Ben Affleck, or else they'd be stuck in the crashed shuttle

These machines drill down at a angle using (I'm assuming) 10 foot poles, connected end to end to reach 800 feet... I don't know where they found room on the shuttle to store 80 10-foot poles.

How did they get the nuke down the hole?

Good thing that Russian dude was there to beat on the equipment or else they wouldn't have made it home

There are hundreds more, but you get the drift.
