Weekend Confirmed 175 - Saints Row: The Third, Disney Infinity

By Ozzie Mejia, Jul 26, 2013 11:00am PDT

Jeff Cannata is still in the outback, learning to play the didgeridoo. That leaves host Garnett Lee back at the homestead with The Escapist's Andrea Rene and Shacknews' Andrew Yoon and Ozzie Mejia to continue bringing you the best in games. This week, Garnett discovers Saints Row: The Third for the first time and he tells you why he's not completely enthused by it. Talk shifts to the upcoming Super Smash Bros. and Nintendo's bizarre aversion to YouTube, before Andrea talks about some of the big games on-hand at this year's San Diego Comic-Con. The show ends with a big discussion about the Xbox One's recent policy announcements before sending you into the weekend with a new round of Finishing Moves.

  • I just finished listening to this podcast and every time you do this episodes where it's a party at someone's house or you are just a bit drunk always provides a good laughter and keeps me in good spirits :) So keep doing it.

I think the reason some gamers worry about sales are because of the attachment that can come with a game, and more sales increase the likelihood of seeing a sequel or at least dlcs. I can give you a few quick examples of games that I wished sold better for the simple reason of wanting more of that universe. Wet was a good game that could become something really fantastic on a sequel, the Prince of Persia remake (2008) was also a great game that I wished I would see the end of that story, and I enjoy every game by Suda 51, but it's very unlikely that I ever see a Shadows of the Damned 2, and the game was fun, not that good but I enjoyed it.

On the sex discrimination, I totally agree that it exists everywhere, but I can see how gaming can be perceived as an area on that happens more. There's an attention of the media for this type of stories and besides that, there's also the social aspect of it, because the gaming society is mostly online, people take advantage of the anonymous nature of it and expose their opinions more openly. There's that "safety wall" that when you're out in the world no one points the finger at you.

Finally I'm also of the opinion that Garnet should play Sleeping Dogs :D
