Pro Evolution Soccer 2014 will release on September 24, Konami announced today. The long-running soccer franchise is switching to Kojima's FOX Engine for this iteration, so the sports title will be the first to put it through its paces.

PES Productions aimed for six key improvements this year, including improved ball physics and animation, physics-based body contact between players, a "Heart" system to recreate the mental boosts or blocks players get from a good or poor game, better move modeling after real-life counterparts, improvements to team play, and a significant visual upgrade.

It will be launching for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 simultaneously in North, Central, and South America, because soccer is pretty popular in those countries to the south of us.

Far better soccer game than FIFA has been. Especially in recent years. FIFA is just too arcadey. PES feels like a real match.

You're so delusional, you always post this whenever a PES or FIFA story is around. PES went full arcade years ago. Every release I try the demo and every year the gameplay feels more and more like a foosball match crossed with ping pong than actual football. Although I will say 2013 was a slight improvement, but still very much an arcade style football game. 2012 however, was fucking ridiculous.

FIFA is still broken in its own unique ways, but has has actually moved far away from its super arcadey roots of the series, and every release is more and more like the old Winning Eleven & PES games, that were actually sim-like. Still waiting for PES to come around and be the game it should be. Those recent games feel like they should be attached to an arcade cabinet.

I half-heartedly agree with you on this one, although I never really dabble in FIFA. Although, if it is not for PESEDIT patch that keeps on coming for PES, I probably would have not played soccer games again since PES 2010. I love PES 2013 (still played to this day) though, but I think it really needs a fresh batch of ideas and improvements as it starting to feel like you're battling with AI that's cheating (I exclusively play Master League) as opposed to a cohesive (and variety) of teams.

I really hope PES 2014 will bring back the WE/PES glory, but either way I will always stick with PES.

Oh, I also absolutely hate PES 2012 and to some extent, PES 2011.
