'Bid for Greatness' lets you use your PSN trophies for real prizes

Achievements are, for the most part, just for show. But what if you could trade your valuable e-peen for real, physical prizes? Sony's doing just that with their new "Bid for Greatness" promo.

For the next two weeks, you can trade in Gold trophies earned on the PlayStation Network for a chance to win props and costumes from the "Greatness Awaits" commercial. This includes items from Killzone, The Last of Us, Skyrim, Diablo, inFamous, and Assassin's Creed.

Every day, a new item will be auctioned off, and the only currency you can bid with are Gold trophies. Don't be too afraid of spending them all, however: the trophies associated with your PSN ID will be intact, no matter how much you bid.

You can start bidding here.

The first auction is up to 975 gold trophies already. That's a lot of gold trophies! Considering that's ten times the number of gold's that I have, I won't be winning any of these items :)
