Diablo 3 coming to PlayStation 4 in 2014

Diablo 3 will be available on PlayStation 4 sometime in 2014, rather than alongside this year's current-gen console versions.

Diablo 3 is coming to both current and next-gen, but you'll have to wait a little while to play on your PlayStation 4. The PS4 version will arrive in 2014, not alongside the current-gen versions this year.

According to notes from a recent interview on DiabloFans (via Polygon), the longer development time for the PlayStation 4 versions will let them tailor it to the system's specs, rather than merely porting the current-gen versions. The PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions are still coming in September, as previously announced.

If you want to get your hands on the game yourself, you can head to the San Diego Comic-Con this week. The current-gen versions will be playable at the event.

Sure it does, there will be an expansion ala D2:LoD that will draw people in again, doesn't matter when they get the original game.

hmm ya know.. I don't think an expansion would actually draw me back any more.

It would definitely draw me back. Especially if these console versions include proper drop rates that don't require the auction house.

Yeah, it definitely wont bring me back, unless they finally introduce PVP. How the fuck did they release Diablo without PvP finished? Even if it was just basic old school type while they got their shit together for the arenas.

I have no faith whatsoever in the multiplayer being a compelling experience in any kind of ongoing way, after what happened with the auction house and the complete lack of innovation in randomness in D3. And I'm definitely not going to pay the kind of prices they'll certainly ask just for a few hours worth of single player experience.

If they magically found some way to make the game about actually playing it and killing bosses rather than being an auction house mogul, then I'd think about it.

The multiplayer experience is pretty awesome right now with all the changes they've made. You've got the paragon levels, monster power, boa bis crafting, and uber runs that all significantly enhance the multiplayer experience.

I really wish i could cut the exp gain from the monster power bonuses though. I keep out-leveling the "challenge" part of it, but don't want to skip half the areas just to keep being challenged.

D3 isn't bad in its current state, the itemization patch at the end of 2013 and new items/content in the expansion will put it in a pretty good place.

I probably won't buy it, just interested in trying it on PS3 to see what the itemization is like with no auction house, also curious to see how it plays with a gamepad.

This must be some sort of console test run for Blizzard. I can't imagine that in 2014 anyone will care one bit for D3. Not hating, it just doesn't have the extended lifespan that D2 had.

Still waiting for the offline PC version here, wont get a dime of my money
until that option is on the table, i am so tired of the online only trend, you
would think everyone in the whole world was always online, but hey if they
wanna ignore a huge portion of their fans with a policy like that then be
my guest, there are plenty of other places to spend that money.
