A new Killer Instinct trailer debuted at Evo 2013, highlighting the game's third confirmed character: Glacius. The video showcases many of the iceman's trademark moves, such as his puddle uppercut and ice blades. It also briefly showed off the new Counter Breaker mechanic, which is a Combo Breaker-breaker. The trailer ended with a lone tomahawk landing on a tree stump, hinting at the return of another KI alum, the Native American warrior, Chief Thunder.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?

The announcer's orgasmic level of excitement at high-level combos makes me wish arcades were still relevant. I loved pulling off 12, 13, 14-hit combos with Orchid and listening to cheers and applause from the throng of spectators that grew each time the announcer sang my praises through speakers cranked up to 11.

I don't know, but I haven't been getting positive vibes from this game announcement. Some of my gaming friends are slightly interested. Most don't care. I feel that when the iron is hot is when you strike. When gamers where asking for it then serious consideration should have been given 8 year ago. Not now. Gamers want fresh new experiences. At least the ones I communicate with. Not even Halo is talked about that much in my circles.

So its either we are old as hell, or its like Sony's president said. What we are witnessing is the end of a gaming cycle. Where some gamers are just getting off at the next exit sort of speak. Its a transition period at the very least.

I think that's why MS, Rare, and Double Helix branded the game as "Killer Instinct." There's no 3 in the title. Many gamers missed out on KI's popularity--which, let's face it, ended when the only sequel sank like a rock--and will be interested in a new experience crafted for a new generation of fighting games. Gamers who remember KI will check it out, if only in passing, because of their fondness for the brand.

I also think it's smart to offer the game as a free-to-play title. That ensures that almost every fighting game fan who buys an Xbox One will at least try at. If they dig the free content, they can immerse themselves as deeply as they want. My only concern is the shallowness of the free content. Last I heard, only Jago was on offer. One character? In a fighting game? Give me at least two.

The demo is the free to play part. It has one character, Jago. But it is the full game, all the features as the full game but just with one character. If you want more characters you can buy them individually or just buy the full game outright.

What does this all of this say about the new "Ultra" SF IV coming out, then?

Here's a different version of the video, which I found quite telling.

Well I'm glad Bluster Blaster found a new job as the Killer Instinct announcer but to bad he sucks at it. The only thing that looks good is the gameplay so far..... Wish they didn't call it Killer Instinct.

I am a _huge_ KI fan (my internet nick is probably a big tell), but I was enormously pissed when it was announced as an XBONE exclusive. I am not going to be getting that console for just 1 game.

The announcer was really annoying and hearing c-c-c-combo breaker every 5 seconds got old fast in that exhibition.
