Prior to Sunday's Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition grand finals, Capcom's Yoshinori Ono took the stage at EVO 2013 to talk about yesterday's announced digital update to the game. As promised, it has received a new title, now going by the name "Ultra Street Fighter IV."

As revealed yesterday, the update will receive five new characters, four of whom (Hugo, Poison, Elena, and Rolento) are shown in action in a new trailer, posted below. It will also receive six new stages, balance tweaks based on fan feedback, and new yet-to-be-revealed modes and features. Ultra Street Fighter IV is set to arrive in early 2014 on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC as both a digital add-on to Super Street Fighter IV and Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition and as a separate retail version.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?

That looks like a lot of fun. I haven't played since vanilla SFIV.

at least the "Vol 2" would let you know this one is newer than the other Arcade Edition

true. arcade edition always made me think of some sort of F2P version or a shareware style demo

Oh well, maybe Ozzie was on twitch. I don't even watch SF stuff much, I just randomly popped into twitch 2 minutes before the announcement and it was the highest viewed channel so it was the default.

Hah, he was at Evo in person. Not sure if he heard about the "new" stages being taken from SFxT, though. Not exactly new :(

I add, parenthetically, that typing on an iPad sucks.

Why not just use your phone? I'd've thought article submission would be on a web app or smth.

That doesn't solve the touchscreen problem. I still need a QWERTY keyboard to work quickly. Not to mention that I have Sprint, which gave me fits throughout the weekend.

I type way faster on my phone than on my iPad. Thumb power, brah. Though yeah I know typing is actually super-the-fastest. Sprint hasn't rolled out 4G on the strip yet, which I discovered last week. >:(
