League of Legends championship coming to Los Angeles on October 4

League of Legends is one of the top dogs in e-sports, and Riot Games has decided to illustrate that point by putting its next World Championship in a venue usually reserved for regular sports. The Season 3 championship will be set in Los Angeles Staples Center on October 4, best known for housing the L.A. Lakers.

Qualifier rounds will be taking place across various countries in the coming weeks. Then, the World Playoffs semi-finals will take place in September at the Galen Center, the location of last year's finals. That will determine the top two teams that will take to the Staples Center to compete for the "Summoners Cup." The winning team will also get $1 million. Tickets will be going on sale sometime soon through the official site, which will have content and commentary streaming as usual for those who can't make it out to California.
